Research Interests

Asma's research field is hydrologic modeling with major focus on testing regionalisation approaches in data-sparse regions. She uses remotely sensed data to enhance model performance, particularly in areas with limited data availability. Her research also extends to climate modeling and predicting future trends. By combining these approaches, her aim is to contributing to a better understanding of hydrological processes and improving the accuracy of hydrologic model predictions in regions with limited observational data.
 

Key Facts

 

Asma completed her bachelor's degree in Environmental Science at the International Islamic University Islamabad, Pakistan. She earned her master's degree with distinction in Environmental Science at the Bahria University Islamabad, with a focus on environmental toxicology and water quality.

She gained field experience by working for a Solar company as the Manager of Renewable Energy. She also worked in numerous consultancy roles. She worked on projects with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization focusing on climate adaptation and developing a carbon emission reduction calculation system for the Global Cleantech Innovation Programme. She engaged in research within the water sector at the Pakistan Office of the Global Water Partnership. As a Technical Associate for Water and Environment, she conducted provincial consultations on the National Water Policy for the World Bank's Water Sector Capacity Building & Advisory Service Project.

Building on her experience, she embarked on her doctoral studies in hydrology at TU Wien, funded by the HEC-OeAD Overseas Scholarship. Besides her PhD studies, she is the Knowledge Exchange Coordinator for the Youth and Young Water Professionals Platform under the Global Water Partnership South Asia.
