Zahra Majid
Research Interests
• Hydrology and Hydrometry
• Hydrological modelling
• Remote sensing and Geostatistical methods
Zahra’s research focuses on hydrology and hydrometry, with particular interest in the spatial and temporal analysis of hydrological events under climate change. She applies hydrological modeling techniques, integrating remote sensing and geostatistical methods to better understand water processes and improve predictions in data-limited regions.
Key Facts
Zahra holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree with distinction (Gold Medal) in Hydrology from the College of Earth and Environmental Sciences, University of the Punjab. Her research focused on watershed analysis using GIS and HEC-HMS at the undergraduate level, and predictive modeling of river flows under climate variability for her Master’s.
She has served as a Lecturer at the University of the Punjab, where she contributed to teaching, academic administration, and coordination of the BS Hydrology program. Currently, she is pursuing her PhD in Hydrology at TU Wien, funded by the University of the Punjab’s Overseas PhD Scholarship Program.
Beyond academia, Zahra has actively volunteered with NGOs in Pakistan, promoting climate change adaptation, contributing to the Punjab Climate Change Action Plan, and supporting initiatives for women’s rights, peace, and minority rights.
